Please find below a selection of some of the activities which took place in Belgrove
Senior Girls’ during the month of May.


Cycle Right -During the month of May, 5 th class completed 7 sessions with a Cycle
Right instructor. The classes promote both road and bike safety.


Kilmainham Gaol – Our 3 6th classes visited Kilmainham Gaol on May 3rd . This trip
coincided with their studies on Irish history. Here the pupils learned about the stories
of people held here as ordinary criminals alongside those who fought for Irish
independence. From the 1798 rebellion, to the 1916 Easter Rising, the Anglo-Irish
War (1919-21), to the devastation of the Irish Civil War (1922-23).


First Holy Communion – On May 12th & 20th our three second classes made their
First Holy Communion. The ceremonies were celebrated by Fr. Larry White and
were a fantastic occasion. On Monday, May 22 nd the school photographer visited the
school and took both individual and class photographs of the pupils in their dresses.

Casino Marino – Our three 3rd classes visited Casino Marino on May 23rd 24th and
25th . Casino Marino is widely acknowledged as the most important example of
architecture in Ireland.


Irish Aid – Our 3 6th classes had an Irish Aid Workshop on May 29 th and 30 th in the
city.  In these interactive workshops pupils explored global issues such as food and
hunger, sustainable development and the role of Irish Aid.


Camogie – Our camogie team beat St. Pius Girls’ N.S by a single point on May 31st
to reach Croke Park for the camogie final. This will be our second time in Croke Park
this academic year and we hope to complete the double by now winning the camogie
final.


Dublin Fleadh – Several of our students were successful at the recent Dublin
Fleadh and will now progress to the Leinster Music Finals. Many of our talented
pupils and their trophies & medals can be viewed on our school Twitter page.


Student Council – Our student council have completed their May Newsletter for
parents to read also. Their newsletter is available via the link News – Student Council
