We brightened up our classroom with these fantastic New Year’s skyline silhouette pictures during our Art lesson.
We practised our Attitude of Gratitude during our SPHE lesson, by writing a letter to someone who helped to make Christmas special. We put them in these gorgeous envelopes and posted them. Having an attitude of gratitude is one thing that can contribute to us having a healthy body and happy mind.
In Maths, we revised our multiplication tables by playing card games. We also played Time games on the iPads and using card games (Snap!). Our brightly coloured cloganna ildaite were very useful in helping us to learn how to tell the time in 5 minute intervals.
We investigated two hypotheses during our Science lessons this month.
- Do things float better in salty water than fresh water?
- Do things dissolve better in hot water than cold water?
We worked as Scientists, discussing how to make the experiments fair, and how to record and report our observations.
We used Epsom salt solutions to paint these frosty effects during our Art lesson. When the ‘paint’ dried, the water evaporated, leaving behind salt crystals.
During our History lessons, we looked at videos and photographs of schools in the past. We compared and contrasted school then with school nowadays. We composed questions and created a questionnaire to find out more about schools in the past. Thank you to everyone who agreed to be interviewed. Thank you especially to Julia’s granny and Róisín Murphy’s granny, who shared photographs and artefacts from their school days.
We researched the history of the Belgrove schools on the iPads, and created colourful, creative and informative timelines.
