We created a gorgeous Garden of Remembrance. Though it was sad to think of people who are no longer with us, sharing happy memories and creating bright beautiful art made us think of them with a smile.

We enjoyed a super Science Week.
The school started every morning with information about Irish scientists, read out over the PA system by students, followed by a cheesy Science joke. Marianne did a fabulous job of representing our class on Thursday.
We had some experts visit our class. Joyce, Marianne’s Mam, taught us about wind turbines. Declan, Elise’s Dad, taught us about water. Eoin, Róisín’s Dad, taught us about infectious diseases. We learned so much from them about the world of Science and Engineering.
We have been participating in the STEPs Engineering Award. https://www.engineersireland.ie/Schools/Get-involved/STEPS-Young-Engineers-Award Each group designed an object that would help people in the community.
For the 3rd time in 3rd Class, we used recyclable materials to build our creation. Can you remember the other two times?
We were so excited to have a mystery engineer come to visit our class to give us feedback on our projects. Our mystery engineer was… Lauren’s Dad, Conor! He asked each group great questions about how their prototypes worked, and got everyone to consider how they might make improvements.
We studied Light. We looked at how objects can appear different in a concave or convex mirror. We discovered that objects can appear different when looked at through water (refraction). We investigated which materials were opaque, translucent and transparent. We used our findings to help us create shadow puppets during our Art lesson.
We presented our discoveries at our Science Showcase. Some of us dressed as Crazy Scientists. We were thrilled to share our knowledge with our parents. Thank you to everyone who came!
