We started off 2022 thinking about being healthy. Healthy Body, Happy Mind!
We were inspired by the artwork of Saxton Freymann and created our own Mealtime Masterpieces.
Sa cheacht Gaeilge, ag obair i ngrúpaí, rinneamar Ionad Siopadóireachta álainn ildaite.
Féach ar na habairtí iontach a scríbheamar lenár Grid Abairtí . Rinneamar pictiúir álainn freisin.
In our Science lesson, we experimented to see if objects float better in saltwater than freshwater.
We also investigated solubility. We tested the solubility of different solutes (salt, coffee granules, tea leaves and cocoa powder) in different solvents (cold water and hot water).
Water is an important resource. We did a Tap Tally to see how much water we used, washing our hands in one day. We created fabulous posters to encourage everyone to conserve water.
In English, we read a poem, by Tom Cunningham, about Ernest Shackleton. He was a brave and adventurous explorer. Tess’s Dad has been reading a book about Ernest Shackleton. What a coincidence! She brought it in to show the class.
In Maths we have been learning about digital and analogue time. We practised our time-telling skills by playing games from the Class Blog on laptops, playing Time Snap and playing Time Dominoes.
We have been learning about Internet Safety in SPHE. We practised using the internet safely when we researched the Great Pacific Garbage Patch using the Kiddle search engine.
3rd Class proudly launched Catholic Schools Week 2022 by sharing a Daily Thought over the intercom, with Father Larry. Charlotte did a great job of representing our class with her beautiful reading. Amelia’s Chain of Kindness looked fabulous on the school’s Religion noticeboard, opposite Mrs McCarthy’s office.
Léigh Emma, Ella, Katie agus Sarah Nuacht an Lae an Chéadaoin seo chaite. Bhí siad go hiontach!
Mrs McCarthy kindly organised an Author Talk for 3rd and 4th Classes with Irish writer, Helena Duggan. https://www.helenadugganwrites.com/ She created the ‘Perfect’ trilogy. The main character is called Violet, a great choice of name!
We had another Author Talk, on Monday 31st January with Alan Nolan. http://www.alannolan.ie/
He’s a great illustrator. He showed us how to draws hens and sloths.
