(May 2012) May 2013 Update
We have been fortunate over the past period that funding from the Department of Education and Skills and the voluntary contributions of Parents have ensured all our costs were covered. However, the economic crisis has affected both sources of revenues and we now face a more difficult financial situation.
Major Refurbishment Projects:
As you are aware, the school is completing the refurbishment of its heating system. This will increase comfort levels in the classrooms and save costs as a result of much higher boiler efficiencies and a switch to gas from oil. This is the final in a series of projects that has delivered the first full upgrade to the school building since its construction in 1968. These works have also included the installation of a high quality ICT infrastructure. The projects have hugely improved the teaching and learning environment and will ensure this is maintained for coming generations of pupils.
While the grant from the DES (Department of Education and Skills) will cover the bulk of the funding, we are left with a shortfall of just under €60,000. Consequently, the school is embarking on a fundraising programme to make good this shortfall and your support would be greatly appreciated.
