ELECTION OF PARENTS’ REPRESENTATIVES: To be held after Parents’ Association meeting on Tuesday 25th October 2011

12ú Deireadh Fómhair /  October 2011

A thuismitheoirí,

The four year term of office of the current Board of Management of Belgrove Senior Girls’ School is shortly coming to an end and a new Board will be constituted.  The Board manages the school on behalf of the Patron and is accountable to the Patron and the Minister. The Board is required uphold the characteristic ethos of the school, determine school policies, planning and development and ensure the efficient use of school resources. The Principal, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school, is accountable to the Board for that management.

According to the provisions under the relevant Education Acts governing the Boards of Management of Primary Schools, the Board comprises:

  • Two nominees of the Patron, one of whom will be the Chairperson.
  • Two parents of children enrolled in the school, one mother and one father.
  • The Principal Teacher and one other teacher on the staff of the school.
  • Two members of the community selected by the six above members.

The Parents Representatives are selected by election.  To facilitate this election I am inviting you to attend a meeting for Parents of pupils in the school hall on Tuesday, 25th October at 8.30 p.m. (approx) for this purpose.  This will take place immediately after the Parents Association Meeting, which is scheduled for 7.30 p.m. on the same date. Nominations to a mothers’ panel and a fathers’ panel may be submitted at the meeting.  Where only one nominee for a mother or for a father is received, they shall be deemed to be elected. If more than one nomination is received for either Parent Representative, a ballot to elect this parent representative will be held at the meeting.

I invite all parents to attend this meeting.

Yours sincerely,

Owen Wilson

Chairperson, Board of Management
