Deireadh na bliana

24th Meitheamh 2011 – The Feast Day of St. John the Baptist

A thuismitheoirí,

Tá sé do-chreidthe go bhfuil deireadh na bliana tagtha agus go bhfuil mo chéad bhliain mar phríomhoide na scoile beagnach thart!  Míle buíochas daoibh as ucht an tacaíocht a thug sibh dom agus don fhoireann scoile ar son bhur gcailíní.

Trócaire have sent us a certificate for our generous donation of €1,732.29 to their Lenten Campaign.

The girls participated in an excellent concert held and all the hard work by staff and children paid off!  Bhí na cailíní go h-iontach ar fad! Míle buíochas to the many volunteers from the PA who helped with the smooth running of the concert each evening.

Buíochas mór to the many parents who have given of their time over the school year to help with activities, sports, outings etc.  It is very much appreciated. A particular míle buíochas to our Parents’ Association under the chairmanship of Joyce Carmody for all the “cabhair a thug sibh dúinn i rith na bliaina”.

P.S. Belgrove Basketball urgently need more parental involment to help with organisation.  Contact Jenni Crumlish @ 087 2026373

Your daughter got her Booklist for next year today. Please make sure that she has everything on the list on her return to school in September –covered and labelled le do thoil.

  • As you know, The Wise Owl Bookshop are holding the Book Sale in the School Hall on Tuesday evening, 28 June from 5.00pm – 7.00pm.

Please note that the Book Sales will not open before 5.00pm.

As you will have read in your Parents’ Association Newsletter, it is intended, once again, to sell donated uniform jumpers for the nominal cost of €5 each during the Book Sale, the money raised going to charity. As you know the jumper should be clean and in good condition, just as you would want it yourself. Jumpers may be brought into on Monday or Tuesday, and placed in the “Red Bucket” inside the school doors.

*On Wednesday and Thursday, all the girls may wear their own suitable summer clothes to school instead of uniform.

Extra Costs on Booklists will be €90 and are not due until September.

In accordance with the policy of the Board of Management of the school, all pupils in the school are included in the Personal Accident Insurance Scheme with 24hr cover. The cost of this is €4.90 and is included in Booklist Extra Costs.

Parents’ Voluntary Contributions are again included on Booklists, separate from Extra Costs. The Voluntary Contribution requested from parents remains the same as last year at €75 per pupil or €100 for two or more girls in a family

Please ensure that your daughter has her regular uniform, with white or navy socks and her tracksuit, with white polo-shirt, in good order in September – and clearly labelled! Please note that suitable flat shoes are required wear for school and trainers, suitable for sports activities, are required for PE.

We have a full basket of unclaimed lost property in the school corridor! Come and have a look if you know that your daughter is missing an article of clothing and hasn’t claimed it. Anything lying unclaimed into the holidays will be given to a clothing charity. We will leave the basket of lost property in the hall during the Book Sales also.

As part of the Croke Park Agreement, teaching staff have spent the additional hours in class, year stream and general school planning. Staff meetings have been held outside of school hours.  We have had guest speakers in to talk about I.T., ornithology and also recorder tuition.

You will have seen on your School Calendar last September notice of early closings before the holidays. In order to facilitate the changing of classrooms before the holidays, the Board of Management has authorised that the children will go home at 1.00pm on Tuesday, 28th and Wednesday, 29th June.

  • The school closes for the Summer Holidays on Thursday, 30th June at 12.00 noon.
  • School re-opens on Thursday, 1st September for the normal full school day.

Tá súil agam go mbeidh samhradh maith agaibh. On behalf of all the staff of Belgrove Senior Girls’ School, may I wish you and your families a very enjoyable summer.

Rath Dé oraibh i gcónaí.
