Belgrove’s Fittest Family

The Active Committee has been working very hard to promote an active school environment. Every Thursday we meet in the computer room to discuss ideas and update the Active blog on the school website.

Recently we have been working on a very exciting project. We are pleased to announce a new competition to the school. A fifth class member of the committee came up with the idea based on the TV programme ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’. Belgrove’s Fittest Family is a fun way to try keep the whole family active.

The competition will be run over three weeks. Each week will bring new challenges, getting harder every week. In week one, we are trying to encourage the whole family to be active. We appreciate honesty when completing the checklist to get through to the next round.

In week two we will expecting more of families. Our active challenges will require more time and effort. We will also be asking members to sign up and complete the parkrun.

Week three will be the toughest. Not only do we expect ALL family members to go on a 3km walk, but we also expect family members to beat previous personal best (P.B.) records at the parkrun.

We know that not everyone will be able to achieve all three rounds, but we are hoping EVERYONE will sign their families up for round one. The aim of this project isn’t to have one winner at the end, but to promote an active way of life and have a bit of fun!

Best of luck!

The Active Committee J
