Gymnastics Show

On Tuesday the 13th of March the 6th class did a dance/gymnastics show. We were practicing for about 8 weeks and in the end they turned out really well. In each group there was about 5-7 people.

In every group there were different costumes and some people even had face paint. Some groups decided to put their hair the same style and the most popular style was Dutch plaits.

On the day of the dance lots of groups had to find a sub, as people were absent. Anyone who volunteered to be a sub had to learn a whole dance in about an hour. Every single group did really well and everyone had a lot of fun.

Food Dudes!

Food  Dudes!

A few weeks ago, the whole school got the chance to try one fruit and one vegetable sent to us from Food Dudes. After trying one bite of every piece of fruit and veg, we got several prizes including a pencil, a rubber, a water bottle and a pedometer. We also got a fruit and veg container so we can bring in our own fruit and veg.

Everyone was very excited to use all the prizes and to see what fruit and veg we would get each day. When the week and a half was over, we started to bring in our own fruit and veg in our new container so that we could earn a Food Dudes certificate every week. Well Done Belgrove!

Park Run in St. Anne’s

The Active Committee would like to encourage girls’ to take part in the Park Run in St. Anne’s park.

PARK RUN

The Park run takes place on both Saturdays and Sundays. The Saturday runs are 5km and are for all ages. The Sunday runs are only for children aged under 14 and are 2km long.

THE COURSE

In the kids` run you start at the end of the avenue near the grassy hill. Then you do a loop around the playground and then run halfway up the avenue and do another loop!

BARCODES

If you go online you can get a barcode which you should clip onto yourself with a safety clip. At the end of the run the park run volunteers will scan the barcode.  You can then go online and see how fast you ran and what place you came in the whole race and your age group. This service along with the whole PARK RUN is completely free of charge so there is no reason not to join in and have some fun!

If you do 11 runs you get a wristband for doing a half marathon and if you do 22 you get a wristband for a marathon.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! 🙂

Active Sticks

One morning, we were thinking: how can we encourage our class to be more active? We decided we would make “Active Sticks”. What we do is every morning we take a lollipop stick from our Active Bucket. These sticks have small exercises on them that get pupils moving, but are safe enough to do in the classroom. We go around the classroom, letting different students every day have a turn at picking out a stick. We aim to do 3 sticks every morning, but usually, the class persuade us to pick “just one more”. It is a fun and easy way to get everyone moving. This puts everyone in a great mood for the day. We would definitely recommend this small activity, as it only takes five minutes but has a much longer lasting positive effect!
