Project work – Antarctica

Project work for November

Hi girls! This month we have a lot of project work going on!

For your mini – project on Animals of the Antarctic you have been given a framework of all the information you need. This is due on 13.11.2020.

The group project on Tom Crean that you have been assigned will take a little more work. Your group has been given a topic, and you can divide it up between yourselves. Your project can be a poster, a powerpoint presentation or a combination of these. Just remember that you will have to present your project to the class and will need information to hand. Check out the assigned activity on Seesaw to see more information.

Here’s a link to a video that explains how to make a diorama – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DJKyM3JIAI

I’ve attached a link to the website that we looked at in school – just remember to have a grown-up’s permission!

Here’s a few others that look good – https://www.annascaul.ie/culture-heritage-2/tom-crean/ https://www.coolantarctica.com/Antarctica%20fact%20file/History/biography/crean_thomas.php

This group project is due on 20.11.2020 – any questions, just ask! Enjoy!!

Have a look at what we’ve been doing in Room 11!

We learned all about Native Americans in the past.

We have been sewing and we’ve made some fantastic cushions!

Last week of School!!!

Hi ladies – well, we made it to the end of Fifth Class!!! I can’t believe that it’s gone so fast. This year has been a very different year to every other year so far, but I have really enjoyed being your teacher!

I have given you very little actual ‘work’ to do this week, as I would really like if you had a little bit of fun. I have assigned Maths, but with some active things for you to do. I’ve popped up a grid of activities for you – press the download button below. You’ll have to enable editing on Powerpoint to follow the links.

These are also set up on Seesaw (click ‘view original’) and the whole thing works the same as the Early Finisher’s Trolley that has been up in the Virtual Classroom for the past while. Hopefully my new ‘techie skills’ won’t fail me now!

I’d love to see some pictures of any of the activities you do. Send them along on Seesaw!!

Chat soon,

Ms. Carroll 😁

School Tour & Arts Day

Hi Ladies!!!

Here’s a quick look at what we have scheduled for Tuesday & Wednesday. The list of books that you should be returning is on the new clipboard. Some of these may already be in your box/basket in the classroom and if so, I’ll return them for you, so don’t worry about that!

If you want to check out the early finishers on the trolley, go back to Monday’s Seesaw post and click ‘view original’ to follow the links. I’ve popped up a list of activities on the blog under a separate post for you. I hope you really enjoy the two days!!

Chat soon,

Ms. Carroll 🤩

Tuesday 16th & Wednesday 17th June 2020

‘Virtual’ School Tour Day – TUESDAY

So today we should have been going on the Fifth Class School Tour, but instead, we’re sending you on a virtual tour! I’ve popped up some links below, and you can choose where you would like to see. I especially liked the Dublin Zoo tour, and I know from your ‘Talk for Two’ recently that lots of you love the Zoo! It’s a shame not to be going on our real tour – but hey – look on the bright side – there’s no queue for the toilets!

Arts & Crafts Fun Day – WEDNESDAY

After the busy day that you have just spent on tour, you’re being given a fun relaxing day with no schoolwork. Again, there’s lots of options for you to choose from, depending on what you would like to do and on what materials you have at home. I’d love to see some photos!! I hope you enjoy the day!

Have a great two days off schoolwork! 😉

Monday 15th June 2020

We’re nearly there…………

Hi girls and welcome back to our second last week of School @ Home! The weeks have just flown by – I can’t believe that the summer holidays are only around the corner.

I am so proud of you all, how hard you have been working and how well you have been staying in contact! Your posts on Seesaw have really meant so much to me over the past while!

Ok, so this week we are sorting out belongings and books on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’ve left all the information on today’s Seesaw post for you. (You’ll find the list of books to send back on the pin board in the Virtual Classroom & your grown-up will get an email with all the details of how and when to pop into school.) This means that Tuesday is your virtual School Tour day and Wednesday is a relax and chill art day. I’ll be popping ideas and suggestions on the blog in the morning.

In the meantime, here’s the plan for this week ⬇

Welcome back!!

Hi girls! I hope you enjoyed your Sports Day on Friday. I’d love if you could send on photos of you doing some of the activities and I can pop some of them up here on the blog.

Back to work for this week! Remember that your mini-project is for the next two weeks. Your grid is available below, and everything is up on Seesaw too. Please remember to log in to your Seesaw every day, and upload at least one response – I really love seeing all of your fab work. If you can, find a quiet and comfy space to do your work. It’s so much easier to concentrate if you are organised and ready to go!

I hope you have a great week and enjoy all of the activities I have set out for you. Remember that if you have a question or a problem, you can contact me on Seesaw and I’ll do my best to help. Have a great one!

Week 25.05.2020

Hello Ladies and welcome back to another week of school at home!

This week we have a new chapter with an old topic in maths – percentages! There’s a lot of work in Busy @ Maths, so you just do what you can, don’t feel that you have to finish every page. I’m also giving you a large topic in History – there’s a whole lot to listen to, but not a lot of writing to do. This topic is a good chance to work on your note-taking skills!!

I’m hoping to take delivery of a new microphone for my computer this week, so with a bit of luck (and some finger crossing), I’ll have improved my recordings on Seesaw in no time! 🤞🤞

Here’s the work for the week – all the additional stuff is up on Seesaw!!
