Here is the template for the water project and some extra water information. You can use some or all of the points to help make your project or poster. You can make a poster by just sticking some A4 sheets together or just a large sheet of paper too. It will be due on Friday 29th of January so you have plenty of time! Use some of the Water activities we have done on Seesaw to help you too! You will then have a chance to present it in a short 1 minute video on Seesaw.
The girls had a fantastic time this week learning about and becoming more aware of Diabetes. World Diabetes Day is celebrated on November 14th but we decided to celebrate it in school on Friday. Firstly we wanted to educate and create awareness around the school of Diabetes by making some Pod Posters and they turned out amazingly. They were displayed across the whole school for everyone to look at.
We also decided to wear blue on Friday as a blue circle and wearing blue is a way of marking World Diabetes day.
We also had a fabulous guest speaker who told us all about Diabetes and her experience with it. She answered any burning questions that the girls had on Diabetes and created a brilliant poster for our classroom.
We had a fantastic Maths week in Room 9 this week! We were looking at 2D shapes and how they tessellate. The girls created the most amazing posters!
We also had a blast doing a Maths Trail in the classroom and in the yard. We worked in pairs from our pods and figured out lots of different of Maths problems involving our school
We decorated our door for Maths week too and realised there is so many ways that Maths is used in different ways in different jobs. So of course we had to show the rest of the school what we realised through our door!
We did some great Maths card, dice and online games in school and at home and the girls did super learning of their tables during September so we had a little competition for the Room 9 Queen of Tables. Our winner was Harriet Lee! Congratulations Harriet. We had an award for the person who showed the most effort and work into Maths this week too, our Maths star. And that person was *drumroll*…..Ellen McCann. Well done Ellen!
Well done to all the girls that put in some great work this week and enjoy a well deserved break over the weekend! 🙂
The girls did some fantastic work on teeth over the month of September. We learned about the different types of teeth and what they are made of. The girls also did a quick experiment on the different effects certain drinks (water, orange juice and coke) have on our teeth using eggs. The shells on eggs are very similar to the stuff our teeth are made up of so we were all shocked by some of the results.
We also made some fantastic Keeping your Teeth Healthy Posters as well 😀
I’m missing you all but I hope you’re settling into home schooling. I’m just checking in with you to make sure you are all on task. The three third class teachers have been working together to come up with more activities that you can take part in at home to help with your learning.
Check out the updated list below, we have added some extra ideas for you to engage with, if you have the time. Also don’t forget to READ, READ and READ!
Have a look at the Class Art Project under Art!
Make sure you are getting out in the fresh air from time to time (but also remembering your SOCIAL DISTANCING). How many activities have you completed on the PE grid? Also really important – Nigh do Lámha after you have been outside.
I’ve no doubt you are all being really helpful around the house and I’m so proud of you all!
The girls have been doing excellent learning about Egypt in the past and present over the last while in school and are going to complete a project using the ‘Four interesting facts’ page that they brought home with them on Thursday. They will use this sheet to create their project for their scrapbooks. Here’s what they need to do;
Complete their Ancient Egyptian pyramid by drawing in the different things that you would expect to find in a pyramid, e.g., gold, canoptic jars, jewellery etc.
Fill in their fact sheet under the following headings
Food
Farming
Clothes
Past times
Jobs
Art and artifacts
Any other topic of your choice
Here’s some facts about the Egyptians that we looked at in school already to help you start!
Canadh in éineacht leo!
