SVP Non-Uniform Day

There was great excitement in Room 5 last Friday, 27th November, as the girls waited in anticipation for the Late Late Toy Show. Friday was also a non-uniform day to raise funds for the St. Vincent de Paul charity.

To get into the Christmas spirit the girls made festive hats. Check out these pictures of the girls modelling their hats and also the Advent Wreaths which the girls made to kick off the Advent Season.

Great Britain Project

A good project is easy to read and the information is presented neatly.  Here are some guidelines to help you.

  • The title of your project is Great Britain and it is due on Friday 18th December (before Christmas Holidays).
  • Projects are to be 2 of an A3 scrapbook- ( no longer than 3).
  • Project must be handwritten in your own words.
  • Project must include a Map of Britain (which I will give the girls)
  • Project must include at least 3 pictures or diagrams. They can be hand drawn or printed.

Here are some ideas of paragraphs to include, remember you don’t have to include all of them!

  1. Where is Great Britain? How can you get there?
  2. What countries make up Great Britain? What are the capital cities?
  3. Draw the Flag of Great Britain and Flags of England, Scotland, Wales
  4. Physical Geography- lakes, rivers, mountains, sea
  5. Famous Landmarks- natural or manmade
  6. What money is used in Great Britain? What jobs are there?
  7. What sports are popular in Great Britain? What are the most famous? Where are they played?
  8. Any event in history that involves England, Scotland or Wales
  9. The Monarchy ( Kings and Queens)
  10. Famous people from Great Britain? ( pop stars, artists, politicians, sports stars, authors)
  11. Animals and Wildlife: What animals would you find there? Can you draw them and write about them? Are there any Zoos or parks?
  12. Brexit – what is Brexit and how might it effect Ireland.

Happy Halloween

We had great fun in Room 5 this week; listening to spooky songs, learning foclóir and a dán about Óiche Shamhna, reading about how Halloween is celebrated in other parts of the world, engaging in different art activities and learning about the human skeleton.

Did you know that a human has 206 bones, that the largest bone in the body is in our leg, the femur, and that the smallest is our ear, the stirrup? Also calcium is really good for our bones and we should drink plenty of milk and eat foods such as cheese to make our bones heathy and strong.

Today there was great excitement. We all got dressed up and went on our annual Halloween Sponsored walk. What a great way to finish up our first term back in school!

Happy Halloween everyone. Bain taitneamh as!

Mrs Brodie 😊
