GREEN SCHOOL COMMITTEE UPDATE
Our Green School Committee is up and running again this year and the girls involved have been doing great work. We are currently working towards our fifth Green School Flag which is for Biodiversity.
This year so far we have organised a Climate Change Week. The Green Girls surveyed their classes, finding out what we as a school knew about climate change. The girls then learned about climate change and how we can take steps to slow it down and maybe even reverse some of the impact, and each class produced a poster. Our survey results were used to create graphs which are displayed on the Green Schools Board on the main corridor alongside our posters.
The Green Girls then surveyed their classrooms, checking that we have no leaking taps, that we are turning off lights when we are out of the room and using our recycling bins properly.
This November the Golden Boot was back! The girls recorded who walked, cycled, scooted or parked and strode to school on Thursday. The winning stream will be announced in January.
In addition, we would like to welcome Paul MacDermott, a parent from second class, to our Green School Committee. Our Green Girls and Deputies have been working very hard, and we are very proud of them. Keep it up girls!
