The girls had great fun celebrating Roald Dahl day in Room 4.
We played Hot Seating with the various characters from Roald Dahl’s amazing novels. Dressing up really brought Roald Dahl’s characters to life. We had wonderful Matildas, Sophies, Veruca Salts, a Pelican, George, Fantastic Mr Fox, a Witch and two Violet Beauregardes!

On Tuesday, 6th class girls celebrated their Sports Day! They had a brilliant day in the beautiful, sunny weather.
The girls started their day in St Anne’s Park with athletics, rounders and parachute games. After a small break, all the girls competed in sack races, egg and spoon races and sprinting competitions! To finish the day, the girls enjoyed art, games and cricket.
This term we are studying a new novel called Holes, by Louis Sachar.
Author: In 1999, Louis Sachar won the Newbery Medal for Holes, his 17th book for children. Holes was partly inspired by the extreme Texas heat Sachar experienced when he and his family moved to Austin. It took him 18 months to write Holes – coincidently the same length of time Stanley was sentenced to Camp Green Lake. Sachar stills lives in Austin, Texas, and continues to write books for children.
In class, the girls are completing discussion groups where they are taking on the role of: Discussion Director, Passage Picker, Artful Artist, Word Wizard, Star Summarizer and Colourful Connector.
We are also looking at the main themes in the novel such as injustice, “whatever goes around, comes around”, inheritance and bullying. We are completing comprehensions, character studies (comparing and contrasting Stanley and Hero), looking at quotes from the novel and the setting of Holes.

The girls completed projects on the Solar System this week. Each group had a different topic; including the Moon, the Structure of the Earth, Planet Earth,the Sun, Comets andAsteroids and the Planets- Rocky and Gas Planets. Each group created informative posters to represent their topic.
We then completed mind maps in our SESE copies including all the key points from each group’s presentation of their project.
For Visual Art, we created framed pictures of the solar system using oil pastels. We used our pencil compasses to help us draw the circular frames accurately.
