Science Week 👩🏻‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬

We had a week full of fun and amazing experiments last week to celebrate Science Week. We discovered the theory of Diffusion using Skittles and water. 🌈 We investigated the difference between water and a fizzy drink and their effects on raisins. 🔬 We also made some lava lamps much to the awe and enjoyment of the girls – I think you may have heard their excited shrieks all around Clontarf!!!

The girls also presented their own experiments and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Challenges from home on Friday morning. Their videos and pictures on Seesaw were amazing! They should be very proud of their efforts! Maith sibh cailíní!! 👏🏼

Happy Halloween from Room 3 🎃

We had great fun all week learning about Halloween. We learned all about the history of Halloween and the games that families played in the past on Halloween night. We learned lots of new words ‘as Gaeilge’ about Halloween. We decorated our classroom with Halloween art and we really enjoyed listening to some spooky songs!!

Today, the girls took part in their first Halloween Sponsored Walk and they loved every minute…and they looked fantastic in their costumes too! Maith sibh cailíní!! 😊

Maths Week 2020

Hi everyone,

We had a jampacked Maths Week in Room 3! The girls were really enthusiastic all week and we had great fun! 🎲

We engaged in various activities throughout the week such as maths games, maths trails, maths art, Tables Champion and solving maths problems. The girls did amazing work on Seesaw too completing a Maths Scavenger Hunt at home during the week! We also designed our door for a whole school competition. We are very proud of the acrostic poem we created all together in Room 3. 😊

We ended the week with Mrs. Mc Carthy announcing the prize winners over the intercom for the whole school to hear! Congratulations to Sarah who was our Tables Champion in Room 3 and to Alex who was our Maths Star of the Week. All the girls made a super effort all week. Maith sibh cailíní!! 👏

Have a look below to see ‘sum’ of the things we got up to!

The final week!!

Happy Monday to my Room 3 girls,

Hope you all had a lovely weekend girls. Thank you so much to those of you who returned your books last week. 😊

This week’s plan is much shorter than normal and it also has lots of fun activities for you to complete. You will also find some extra (optional) activities at the end of the plan – you can complete as many of these as you wish, if you have the time.

Happy Monday Room 3!! 😊

Hi girls,

I hope everyone had a very enjoyable and active Sports Day on Friday! I loved seeing what some of you got up to on Seesaw – it looked like so much fun!!

This week’s plan includes work that we have missed in our workbooks during the school closure. The good thing about workbook activities is that they are designed for you to work independently! Make sure you read the information, instructions and questions carefully before answering! Take your time agus déan do dhícheall! 😊 Remember everyone’s house is very different these days – do as much as you can each day! Some tasks can be completed orally too! 😊

Plan-of-work-8th-12th-JuneDownload

Don’t forget to find that quiet, bright and comfortable place to work in – it will make your school work much easier and you will also get your work done much quicker, without any distractions!! 😄

I know you are all working hard and I am very proud of you all! I have seen a lot of fantastic work on Seesaw. Don’t forget to keep sending your work – I love seeing every single piece!! 😀

Have a fantastic week cailíní,

Ms. Mason 😊🌸

Sports Day! ⚽🏀🎾🏃‍♀️🏆

Hi girls,

Happy Sports Day to you all! I hope you all are extra active today and enjoy yourselves! Don’t forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day too! 😊

I’m sure you all have plenty of your own ideas to keep active so feel free to use your own. Here are some more suggestions:

  • Dance along to your favourite routines on GoNoodle – or even make up your own dance routine.
  • Joe Wick’s PE lessons are really fun and great to get all of your muscles moving!
  • Go for a walk/jog/run/scoot/cycle with your family.
  • Have sprint races/relays with your siblings.
  • Grab a skipping rope and try to get as skips in a row as you can.
  • You can try out some yoga – CosmicKidsYoga on YouTube or GoNoodle both have easy routines to follow.
  • Spell Your Name PE – see picture below.

  • Choose activities from the Active Choice Board – see picture below.

  • Long Jump – mark where you land and try and jump further the next time. (Remember the proper jumping and landing positions from our PE classes.)
  • Target Practice – throw objects into a bucket, hoop, etc. Take a step back each time and see if you can reach the target from a further distance.
  • Egg and Spoon Races – use a small ball/round object to save the eggs!! 😊
  • Dribble a basketball/Hop and Solo a football for as long as you can or while running between objects laid out in the garden.
  • Partake in an obstacle course like the one below – or you can also create your own obstacles!! 😊

SESE Project: The Solar System

Hi girls,

Our next project is based on the Solar System. You have TWO weeks to complete this project – it will be due Friday 29th of May. It should be a minimum of 2 A4/scrapbook pages.

You should include interesting facts, pictures, diagrams and information about the Solar System as a whole. You could also dedicate a half page/full page to one planet in particular or the planet that you find the most interesting.

I am attaching two pages from your SESE Small World book to get you started – you will find some interesting facts here and some pictures which might inspire your own drawing!
