A thuismitheoirí/a chaomhnóirí,
This year Belgrove Senior Girls’ School continues to support the SVP Giving Tree appeal. We are calling on you once again to contribute to this very worthy appeal.
The Giving Tree Campaign is simple. The Giving Tree is a perfect way to match gifts to the people in need of help. Simply take a tag from the Giving Tree in the school corridor and buy a new gift or gift voucher for the child or adult on the tag.

*Please don’t include soft toys or small pieces that could be swallowed.
*Please do not include any war figures or guns.
|6-12||Popular toys, books, make-and-do kits, art supplies, t-shirts, scarfs and gloves, accessories, music/sports shop vouchers, sports items|
|Teenager||Book/sports/game/music shop vouchers, vouchers for beauty products or hairdressing, beauty sets (make up or aftershave etc.), compilation CD’s, clothes (hats, gloves, scarves, baseball caps), sport themed gifts, cinema ticket vouchers, computer games, accessories (handbags, make-up, purses, scented candles, watches, wallets etc.)|
|Adults||Aftershave, clothes (socks, hats, gloves, scarves, woolly jumpers, slippers etc.), books (sports, current affairs, fiction), electronic gadgets, beauty sets (make up or aftershave etc.), mugs, box of chocolates/ biscuits, photo frames|

Le gach dea-ghuí,
Anne McCarthy, Príomhoide Belgrove Senior Girls’ School
The Ms. Mohan’s, Ms. Brodie’s and Ms. Walshe’s 3rd classes have been learning about fire safety this week. We also designed some wonderful Fire Safety posters which we entered into the Dublin Fire Brigade Art competition. We have a very talented group of artists. You never know we might win a prize!
Check out our posters!
What a momentous day, Tuesday 22nd October was for Belgrove Gaelic Football in Croke Park.
After a thrilling, nail-biting final against a very strong St. Patrick’s Hollypark our Belgrove girls took home the Corn Austin Finn, named after one of Ireland’s greatest photographers. Austin Finn photographed many a final day in Croke Park and was held in such esteem with Cumann na mBunscol that they named a trophy in his honour. It was presented on the day by his daughter.
The Belgrove SGNS League team were also presented medals on the day for topping their league.
Míle buíochas to Ms. Mason and Ms Mohan who took on the role of coaching the teams this year. Special thanks also to Clontarf GPO, Will Lillis for his help and support.
Míle buíochas also to our 16th player, our wonderful teachers and students who all came along to support us on the day. It was fabulous day, winners all round, cheered on by fellow students, family and friends. A day full of wonderful memories!
Dublin Ladies Footballer and past pupil, Niamh Hetherton, called in to help out with our football training session last week.
Niamh represented Belgrove SGNS on two occasions in Croke Park. She had a few words of wisdom for our girls ahead of our upcoming final in Croke Park, namely to go out and do your best and enjoy the experience.
Míle buíochas Niamh!
We had great fun this week with Maths!
We went on a Shape Trail spotting 2D shapes around the school. The Hexagon was the hardest to find, but we eventually found one in the base of a Cone in yard.
We found our Cityscape pictures tessellating in the corridor.
We had fun with our tables too. We paired up with Ms Deegan’s 6th class for Tables Buddies and we had a Queen of the Tables competition. Comhghairdeas to our finalists Ruth, Maria, Olivia and our class winner Julia.
The highlight of our week was preparing our Door for the Maths Door competition. We went with the Story of 5 theme as we are in Room 5 and we have 25 (5×5) girls in our class!
Finally we had Friday Maths Stations and a Whole School Maths Assembly in the Halla where we were awarded a prize for our Maths door. O Continue Reading

Belgrove Senior Girls’ School is very fortunate to have a well-stocked school library. It is used on a daily basis by various classes. The girls are free to borrow a wide variety of books to enhance their reading skills.
All the books in our library are catalogued electronically on the Aladdin Library system and organised alphabetically by Author on the library shelves.
It is proposed to setup a rota of 6th class girls to help maintain the library by organising the books on the shelves and cataloguing new books in to the library system. It is hoped that the girls could perform this function before formal classroom teaching begins, from 8:45 – 9:00 am, three mornings a week.
In order to facilitate this we are looking for parent volunteers to help supervise the girls in the library on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8:45-9:00am. If you think you could give 15 minutes of your time on one or more of these mornings, on a weekly basis or fortnightly basis, please contact the school office on 01-8331888 or email to email@example.com.
Thanking you for your continued support.
Comhghairdeas to our Belgrove Gaelic Football Teams!
This year we fielded two gaelic football teams a League and Cup team.
Congratulations to all girls on the League team who have topped Group A in their league.
The Corn Austin Finn also topped their group and then narrowly defeated St. Colmcille’s, Knocklyon in a thrilling Quarter Final game. The girls went on to secure a place in Croke Park after a very tight semi-final game against St. Pius NS in Ringsend Park.
Go n-éirí libh a chailíní!
